Hi! I’m Hayley.  My idea of a perfect day is to stay in my pj’s all day and make creative messes in my craft room. If you are a crafter I’m sure you understand- sorry mom! Sewing is also my go-to stress relief and I love the thrill of taking on a new sewing challenge and seeing the end result. My seam ripper might be my most hated and most valuable tool! It’s so fun to have someone comment on my outfit and then see their jaw drop when I say “Thanks I made it!”

I started sewing when I was young, and I remember making doll clothes with my mom and grandma, but of course life got busy and sewing got put on the back burner. When I started grad school I got a job at Joann Fabrics to help pay for it and started sewing again,  I was surrounded by fabric all day, I really had no choice! That year I handmade every single Christmas gift and started in July so I had time to get it all done – mostly because I couldn’t afford much else. I made my first quilts for my sister and mom, using fabric I carefully selected on sale.

After graduating I discovered the world of PDF sewing patterns and have been obsessed with them ever since.  Old school paper patterns frustrate me and you don’t have a quick go-to place to get help – so when I stumbled upon my first PDF pattern designer, Patterns for Pirates, it was like discovering a whole new world.  I now have a steadily growing fabric stash and patterns that have taken over my whole house!  Luckily for me my husband doesn’t say too much about it – and even dutifully wears the button down I made him, even if the plackets are backwards and it’s just a little too short!

I am closer to 30 than 20, which might be a tad hard to admit. But I still look like I’m in high-school – and that makes my job working with high school students even more entertaining! This blog was created as a space to share all my creations. I typically sew clothing, but I dabble in quilting and crafting too. My obsession with applique quickly turned into owning a Cricut machine and a heat press – and my tiny craft room is about to explode!

And finally, if your still reading you might be wondering why my blog is named Margaret Ann’s Creations, even though I just told you my name was Hayley. This blog is named after my grandmothers, Margaret and Ann. I credit most of my creativity to them (and my parents). I come from a long line of strong resourceful women so I thought it was only fitting to pay tribute to them! Thank you for stopping by and reading my blog – I really appreciate it!

As much as I hate to have to write this – it is important to me to protect my pictures (because most of them are of me – and I’d like a little control where my pictures are posted!) Unfortunately many sewing bloggers get their pictures stolen and copied, and then their picture is advertising something for sale that they never see a dime from, and isn’t actually what the picture is representing at all!

All pictures posted on my blog belong to me. If you feel the need to use them please contact me for written permission. Removing my watermark is not allowed. My pictures are not to be used to sell, distribute or otherwise profit off of in anyway. Feel free to follow along and sew your own items for yourself or to sell but please use your own pictures to market or share them! If you would like to share my blog post, or content in it for non-profit purposes, such as just sharing tips you found with others that is fine! I just ask that you provide a link to the original blog post and credit me.
